Advice for Travellers to all Destinations

The Vaccinations and Medications that are needed for travel vary from person-to-person. Everyone should have a personal risk assessment with a travel health professional to take into account a range of factors such as itinerary, medical condition, occupational and lifestyle risk factors and previous vaccination history.

All Travellers

All Travellers should ensure that they are up-to-date with Routine Vaccinations including Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio and Measles, Mumps and Rubella.

Most Travellers

Most travellers will also need to consider a course or booster of Hepatitis A and Typhoid as there is a risk of these diseases across most parts of the world.

Some Travellers

Some Travellers may also be advised additional vaccinations such as Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis and Hepatitis B based on their individual risk assessment.

Incredible service – so helpful
Excellent service! Chazile went above and beyond to prepare me for my travels to south east Asia. Very kind, sharp and added helpful bits of information that will be useful during my travels. Even created a vaccine booklet for me that I asked for to keep track of my vaccines for the future. Highly recommended The London Vaccination Clinic. Thanks again Chazile 🙂 Nick

Travel vacines

Attended a consultation for travel vacines, the nurse explained everything with care, provided good advice. We then add a follow up consultation with a different nurse for the vaccines and was also very kind and professional. Was very impressed, we did not feel pressured to have more vacines then reasonable and both nurses gave pricing information upfront.

Very positive experience

Really easy to book and the nurse who I saw in Liverpool Street was really kind and helpful. She went through my vaccination history, what I needed for my trip and explained everything I needed to know ahead of administrating the vaccine I needed.
I am glad I arrived early as the venue was tricky to find as the name of the building has changed so doesn’t match Google maps. Put me in a slight panic as I thought I was going to miss my appointment but I found it in the end!

My nurse was a beautiful soul inside…

My nurse was a beautiful soul inside and out. I have a fear of needles and she was so patient and reassuring from beginning to end. She asked me questions, helped me to relax and made me feel like an individual rather than just someone on the list for the day.

Further Travel Health Advice for Canada

During the summer months, Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa can experience heat waves bringing temperatures in the city centre to as high as 30 or more, and with these conditions comes high humidity. It is especially important to use sun block since because of the greenhouse effect, the sun can cause more damage at northern latitudes. Atlantic and Pacific provinces rarely have this sort of heat, and in any other provinces high temperatures would be an anomaly.

Canada has more than 31,000 fresh water lakes, and most of the world’s fresh water supply. Visitors should have no concerns about drinking the tap water in any region. Drinking bottled water is a matter of personal choice, not necessity. Many popular brands of Canadian water, such as Labrador Spring water, and Naya, are exported the world over. Remember to drink water often, whatever the season.

Canada and the U.S.A. share the world’s longest undefended border, and the majority of Canadians live within a 2-hour drive of the U.S.A., so one might assume that there would be some spill over. Yes, you will see golden arches and other high profile fast food outlets, but that is pretty much where the influence stops. In the Maritime provinces you will find some of the world’s best seafood, Atlantic lobster, is steamed or broiled, and melts in the mouth. Fresh clams are stewed in creamy chowders, and Digby scallops from Nova Scotia will make you vow never to eat them anywhere else. From Newfoundland’s Grand Banks comes fresh flaky cod, and there’s nothing quite like the salmon from Quebec’s Restigouche river.

In Québec City and Montreal, International restaurants of every imaginable origin compete for attention, but it’s hard to beat the comfort of a baked onion soup au gratin, or a Châteaubriand with a bouquetière of veggies and Bearnaise sauce. In the Western provinces, particularly Alberta, you’ll find award-winning beef, and in Vancouver you can savour sumptuous Chinese cuisine in one of many harbourside restaurants. Canadian beers such as Molson, and Labatt are known Internationally, and several provinces grow and produce excellent wines.

In the event that you need health care in Canada, there is an excellent health care system in place, which is managed by each individual province. As a U.K. citizen, you could have access to claim back expenses or to receive care at no charge, depending on the province(s) you have visited. It is always a good idea, however, to arrange in advance to have enough money with you to pay for any health care you might need.

Protect yourself, and your family, with comprehensive travel health insurance which will cover your intended itinerary and any potentially risky activities, such as white water rafting.

Aside from observing the normal precautions, visitors are very safe and warmly welcomed in Canada.
