What is Hay Fever?
Hay fever is an allergy to pollen, there are many different types of pollen that you could be allergic to, particularly if you experience some of the following symptoms:
- Tiredness
- A runny or blocked nose
- Sneezing, coughing, wheezing
- Itchy nose, mouth, throat
- Red or watery eyes
- Headache
The symptoms develop when the pollen gets in contact with your mouth, nose, eyes or throat. The wind can carry pollen and increase the symptoms of Hay fever. The usual season is from March to September but it can start from late January to the end of October. The symptoms can last from a few days to several months depending on the severity of your allergy.
What is the hay fever vaccine?
Unfortunately, there is no cure or vaccine against Hay Fever but if all of the traditional treatments are not effective or practical you could have a ‘one off’ Injection, instead of taking tablets daily.
The vaccine can decrease your symptoms for at least 3 weeks. Some people are even relieved for the entire season.

FAQs
Does immunisation hurt?
Not all vaccinations are delivered by needle. But whenever they are, we bring all our considerable expertise into play to make sure it hurts as little as possible. Modern needles are so fine they hurt a lot less than the old fashioned versions used to. You shouldn’t feel anything worse than a sharp prick.
What if I have an abnormal reaction?
We don’t just vaccinate you and abandon you! If you don’t feel well afterwards or experience an abnormal reaction, phone us or come straight back in and we’ll check you out.
Will I get a vaccination record card?
Yes, and it’ll act as a record of the vaccinations you’ve been given. The cards include information about how long the vaccination is effective and your booster dates. If you already have a vaccination record card, bring it to your consultation so we can check your immunisation history.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring your vaccination record.
How long does the vaccine take to work?
It depends on which vaccines but between 7-14 days for most vaccines.
Where is the vaccine given?
Vaccines are usually given via an injection to either the muscle or just under the skin.
What Side Effects might I get
Common side effects include swelling or tenderness at the injection site and fever. More serious side effects are rare (1 in10,000)

Good service – put my mind at ease. The nurse was very good and very knowledgeable so could answer all of my queries. Overall, very easy, quick, and friendly process. Would recommend.Natasha
Excellent service – was able to book, see the travel nurse and have my injections and collect malaria tablets all in the same day. The nurse Ben was particularly helpful. It’s obviously more expensive than going via a GP but if you’re short on time this place does an excellent jobTom Gowen
Prompt, courteous service. Reassuring expertise. Painless jabs!Roger Hollings
Very friendly and informative staff! Had 3 injections which were done professionally, quickly and kept me calm. The open plan set-up on 1st floor was a little confusing when I went in (Tottenham court road clinic,) but the staff soon found me and took me to their privet office. Would happily recommend.Peter Evemy

Great service by professional and well informed staff.Neil Davey
Having been messed around and bored of dealing with the NHS, I booked up last minute with the LVC and it was quick, simply and very professional. The doctor/nurse who I saw was informative and told me what I needed to know and I was in and out of there within 10 minutes having not felt a thing! I highly recommend particularly the guy I saw, refreshing to have a laugh at the same time during a vaccination!Richard Gray
